I was contacted by a representative. I explained the imbalance between points being credited and deducted for the same items and after a brief consult with management they credited my account and added customer loyalty points for my inconvenience.

When you purchase items at PepBoys and give them your rewards number they round down the points credited to your rewards balance to the whole dollars. However if you return the same item they round up the points removed to the next highest dollar.
E.g. Make a purchase of $24.99 and you get 24 points added to your rewards balance. Return the same item and they take 25 points from your rewards balance.
Check your rewards purchases and see this scam for yourself. If PepBoys can't offer an honest rewards program then why offer one at all just to *** off customers.

Monetary Loss: $10.
Preferred solution: Credit lost points back to my account..
I liked: Order online and pick up in store.
I didn't like: Tip the scales on rewards.
