Pep Boys - Completely unorganized & tried to rip me off!

These guys are crooks and completely unorganized. I brought my car in to see if they could replace the side mirror. I'm just talking about the mirror-not even the casing that holds the mirror. First of all, Chris said he would have to check to see if they had the part in stock. After waiting several days for them to call me back, I finally called them. No one had even checked with the other store like they said they would. They acted like they had no idea what I was talking about. They said they would call and check on it for me. A few days later I got a call back and they told me to bring my car in so they could put the mirror on. When I showed up at the time they told me to, I was told there was no way that they would have time to install it. I rearranged my schedule because they told me they would have time, but whatever. When I brought it in the next day, they told me it would be 4 times as much as they originally quoted me. When I questioned this he said, "Well, there about 90 minutes of labor in this job." After sitting there for half an hour, the guy came out and said that it was the wrong part and they'd have to get the part from a dealership. He said they would call a dealership for me to try to get the part. After waiting a week, I decided to take it somewhere else. The other shop had the new mirror for me the same day and I watched the guy pop it into the casing that houses the mirror, which took him all of 60 seconds. Therefore, they didn't charge me for labor--only for the part. I'll never go to Pep Boys again.

Pep Boys - Part Replacement Review

Went in for brake pads-mechanic replaced whole brake system for nothing-all he had to do was change a $20.00 part in the back wheels. They had my truck for 5 days-two of those days they had me sit there with my small child for 8 hrs, with no regard for my son. Finally on third day I asked for a rental and was told by the store manager they are not responsible for that until the general manager got involved. Then the shop manager was the rudest man I have met. He roled his eyes at me and talked to me with attitude and disdain because his "manager called him at home-actually woke me up because of this" accused me of trying to keep something for nothing. He let me leave his shop with no working brakes. I told him I was sorry to put him out but I need brakes that work he said he had done his job and he was done! Had to pump my brakes to the next shop and they said I could have died due to Pep Boys allowing me to leave with No Brakes.

Pep Boys - Poor customer service

It is my third time coming back for getting the oxygen sensors fixed. It is the second time they are replacing the same sensor in a week. They don't carry the type of sensor compatible with my truck; they gave me the specific identifier part number and I got it from a local auto part supplier. I had to wait one week for the part to arrive. It took pep boys around three hours to put it in. After an hour the check engine lit up again and the truck began behaving like it does before the replacement. I went back to pep boys for check up, imagine I paid for diagnosis, part and two hours labor. They asked me to come back the next day to just look into the vehicle and let me know what went wrong. i did come as per their request, the next day. After another diagnosis that took them almost two hours they told me the sensor they put in was faulty. I want them fix the problem, this time with their parts. I set an appointment for the next day 1pm, I got there in time, they told me it takes another hour before they pull it in even though I came with an appointment. I couldn't afford wasting one extra hour and agreed to come back the next day at the same time. I did show up 10 minutes early, but they told me it takes about 2 hours to pull in. I was almost frustrated and asked for the same day 4pm, I got it. I brought my vehicle sharp on time, the manager assured me it only take utmost 2 hours to complete the service; I nodded and dropped my key and went on shopping. When I came back after 2 hours my truck want moved from where I parked it. I wondered what is going on and approached one of the clerks by the counter, he told me they are yet to pull it in and the work takes atleast two hours. I was mad, frustrated and felt mistreated. I value 4 hours of my time, I made several trips to this shop, I lost money on the first service. Hence, their service is appalling, disrespectful and had no value for customers time. This will be the last time pep boys see my truck.

Say No to Pep Boys

I took my car to Pep Boys in Montgomery across from the mail. It had stopped running and I thought it might be the fuel pump. After getting home with the van I called for a tow to the Big Ten/Pep Boys place. I began searching for fuel pumps and what would be a fair charge to replace it. I found the fuel pump for a little over 200 dollars available right next door to the shop. Sure enough, I get a call from Pep Boys telling me the fuel pump had gone out. I asked for a summary of what it would cost to replace it. I was shocked and then pissed when he told me 400 for the fuel pump, 350.00 for the labor, 90.00 dollars for the diagnostic and 40.00 for the towing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nearly one thousand dollars! When questioned about the huge price difference I asked him if they marked up parts he said yes. I said by what 300 percent ?! He said no 150.00... they have to make money somehow he said. He told me rather unhappily I could purchase the part myself but they would not warranty the part (well duh) but the labor they would. I ended up getting the part for 82.00. After they got it all in they tried to tell me the fuel filter needed to be replaced which would be an additional 47.00 dollars. He became argumentative when I said no.. what they did not know is prior to picking up my van my husband put a brand new fuel filter in... the van never cranked up or ran after he replaced it. How the *** could it be bad if they a) never cranked it up but instead put it on a diagnostic machine? I went to pick up my van and they had tacked on another 53.00 for wiring the fuel pump which I had no idea about. Eventually after much *** and threatening I got a full refund for the 53.00 plus a free oil change. But the damage was done. Businesses that practice in this manner are unethical and doomed for failure. They are concerned with making money no matter whose pockets they have to rob and Pep Boys is crooked. They picked the wrong woman to try and pull some unnecessary and outrageous mechanic work on. I will never ever use Pep Boys again. If you want a good descent mechanic in Montgomery please call Sherman over on Black Shear Road. The towing was the only thing that kept me from saying to *** with Pep Boys. With a delphi fuel pump Sherman quoted me HALF of what I paid at pep boys with the fuel filter replacement. NO PEP BOYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pep Boys - Fuel pum and Gaskets and hoses

On 05/13/12 mI had my car toaded to Pepboys in Petersburg, Viginia. I was told at that time that the fuel pump was gone n i needed a new one. So I purcashed one to the tune of $90.and change. The tech or mercanic (which ever) did not tell that the hoses and gaskets needed to be replaced ; even through I was there he simply put the old cracked up gasket back on and cut back what he throught was the soft part of the hose. Assistant Manager Christopher custer said that my car had been fixed. I paid him $344.25 and left. I got about twelve blockes stoped for gas all the gas is running on the ground; car wont start again. Have to be towed for the second time in one day. Call monday I told that the fuel pump is defective, still no one saying anything about gaskets and hoses. Get car back gas still running from under the car.. I told to bring the car back now I need a hose that's that the tried too save me money.. If it needs fixing fix it. This time I get the car beack Ihave so much gas fumeson the inside of my car I'm afraid to smoke in my own car, I'm getting drowsey behind the wheel ,I.ve got to put my window to keep from fall asleep. I call back I'm like look I brought my car in here to be fixed. I,ve never had to take my car back four or five time for them to fix it properly. not even back in the day when I uised street mercanic. Christopher said I would have to dell with henry Michalak. I waited for him.One of his people was having a problem with another cusumer's car. Henery wanted to know why it was such a problem.. The employee responeded that the female cusumer was driving 2000 miles across country. Henery wanted to know how was that Prpboys problem , His final words were fix it the way I told you and get her out of here. What happens on the road is her problem. Then Back to me Now you want to tell me all my gaskets are crack. Well didn.t you see that went you kept switching theses gasketsbackand forth. Looking forward to your respond. ywak
