On the 14 April 2012 I had my 2002 Chevy Malibu towed to PEP BOYS located at Destin Florida. I and the tow company could not start the car.
Engine cranks but would not start. The PEP BOYS mechanic after an electronic diagnostic test said that a new alternator and a new battery was needed and the cost would be $550. The mechanic said they was able to start the car
I wanted another opinion so I had it towed to another shop. The mechanic at that location said the problem was that the security theft system had been activated preventing the engine from starting.
He deactivated the security theft system by opening both front doors and the car quickly started at a cost of $40 compared to $550.
There is a fraud situation with PEP BOYS because a new alternator and new battery would not repaired the car.
