The Service Manager Dave at the Cherry Hill shop explained that on top of the cost of the Oil and Filter (Maybe a bit more than if I bought in their store) which you expect to have a little built-in to cover costs, there is a Labor charge @ $25.Hr. Store 0059 WO# 2122207.

Nowhere did the web site mention that kind of labor charge for an Oil Change.

Honestly I am web savvy and look for the fine print, but nothing. First it should not take an hour and second how highly paid are the oil change techs ?

Product or Service Mentioned: Pep Boys Oil Change.

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

Monetary Loss: $25.

Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution.

Pep Boys Cons: Rip off tacked on labor.

Most shops charge around $100.00 an hour labor, dealers are a bit higher. So $25.00 is about 15 minutes of labor. It the technician is getting paid $16.00 an hour,15 minutes is $4.00.Pep boys barely pays minimum wage so what is the technician getting?Maybe $2.00.There is overhead, electricity to run the lift and run the shop, there is also heat and A/C.They have to pay the writer to write you up.They have to pay someone to unpack the oil and filters and to stock them.Company's spend millions of dollars to build the buildings so there are loans to pay off. Book time on an oil change is a half hour so your getting it done for half price.Whats the problem? How much do you want to pay?If you are willing to work so cheap then let me know,i have lots of work for you and the little pay should make you very happy.
