My fiance and I have literally spent close to $5,000 between our two vehicles at this specific location over the past 18 months for various repairs and maintenance....we WERE extremely loyal customers.
Currently, we are in the middle of a WEEK-LONG NIGHTMARE involving a simple break job that gets more and more ridiculous by the day. What was supposed to take a few hours has now become 7-days of no-updates unless WE CALL, multiple trips to pick up the "completed" vehicle to only find the issue is not fixed and in fact worse... and now shady dealings with wanting MORE MONEY after we already paid in full. It is unbelievable the circus! Apparently they only have one REAL mechanic who only works every-other-day and ironically had car troubles this week and missed extra days. Don't worry though, they will go-ahead and take your money and work on your breaks anyway even though they don't know what they are doing.
The BIGGEST concern is our vehicles = income. If we cannot drive we do not survive. The complete lack of interest or concern for our situation is what is most infuriating. No customer service.
WE COULD HAVE BEEN INJURED - - - One of the THREE TIMES we were told the vehicle was fixed and we attempted to drive it we noticed disturbing noises when breaking (remember, they just replaced the breaks so it doesn't take CSI to figure out the issue). We both had to be at work in two different parts of NJ at the same time so we asked if it was drive-able that day then we would return it that evening to fix whatever they messed up on the break job....their response was we could drive it but we should not "break too hard"....admission it was an issue with the new breaks they replaced and obviously not concerned for our safety....how can you avoid breaking when you live in New Jersey?!? We left the van there and haven't been able to drive it in 7-days!
The loss of income, the juggling and struggling it takes to operate two professions and children out of one car...the week-long battle with incompetence and lack of customer service and decency to even call us and keep us posted is maddening enough....to add injury to insult TODAY (when we called) they actually are now trying to PRETEND that the NEW growling/scraping noise that occurs when we press the breaks (which wasn't there before they replaced the breaks) may not be the breaks.... ugh....
But get this, they told us at 7:30am this morning that their ONE MECHANIC who is the only one qualified to work on our vehicle wasn't working today....so they have a tech diagnosing their own errors?
WILL SOMEONE HELP US from PepBoys Corporate or Franchise Owner or Class-Action Attorney....please?!
