Pep Boys - No Brakes after Pad Replacements

My wife took her Cadillac in to have the brake pads replaced, Pep boys convinced my wife to have the rotors replaced on a car with only 43,000 miles and took 12 hours to do the job. Less than two days later my wife had to push the brakes all the way down to the floor to stop the car. she called and they said they didnt have anyone to work on the car and to have the car towed in the next morning. She took it in anyway. After inspection they showed her a cut in the line on the front passenger side where all the brake fliud had sparyed out. cut was where the line connects to the pads. now they are telling us the she must have run over something that got up in the tight spot and severed the line and if they dont find anything on their cameras, we will have to pay for the repairs...i dont know where to even begin with these idiots. i guess i am calling my lawyer.

Pep Boys in New York, New York - State Inspection with padding..

4th Ave. Brooklyn, NY. Went in for a state inspection $37. Was told both front marker lights needed replacing (really?) (both?), I had serious doubts as I check all lights frequently but agreed as I had little other choice. It turned out to be a $64.19 invoice. I really find this kind of bill "padding" distasteful. When I arrived the "greeter" asked if I had any light bulbs out. I replied that I didn't think so. My car has dash indicator lights that inform if any lights are burnt out. Why is it so hard to find an honest business in Brooklyn? I'll be contacting the attorney general. Sadly they loose future customers to make a few bucks extra.

Pep Boys experience 202 Del was a nightmare

Car bogged down near this Pep Boys. Asked service attendant to please check out what is causing the sluggishness and give me an estimate. Dont believe the vehicle was ever test driven to even experience the problem, almost positive the main symptom of the sluggishness was ever delivered by the desk attendant to the mechanic. They Hooked the vehicle up to the diagnostic machine which showed a couple misfires from the engine. I Receive a call from attendant that says they recommend a tune up, replace 2 ignition coils, 2 spark plugs, and a throttle cleansing. I'm thinking to myself that doesnt sound too bad, sounds like a couple hundred bucks. Boom that will be $738 dollars. What? "Are the coils made of gold"? 2 coils & 8 spark plugs cost about $80 bucks total at napa. How the *** do you get to $738? Ok definitely can't do that. Please cut out the tune up, and the throttle cleaning. Mr mechanic Will replacing the 2 Coils fix the problem ? Mr. Mechanic- "Yes". Then Do it. Ok that will be $450 for diagnostic work, 2 new coils, 2 spark plugs. Ugh not a happy camper but if its fixed I can live with it. Before I pick it up I call Pep Boys and ask the attendant if the car is running properly. " Yes". Pick up the car and go 10 feet and realize the car is doing the same exact thing- bogged down lack of power- as it was when I brought it in. They did nothing to improve the performance (They couldn't have test driven it). They re-check it and now tell me its a bad catalytic converter. Estimate $2500 to fix. Im about ready to strangle somebody at this point. I wasted $450 on a job that wasnt the issue, and wasted a day on a mis-diagnosis of 2 coils, 2 spark plugs. Incredible. Not bad people but what a horrible experience. I wont go 100 feet from a Pep Boys. I wouldnt even buy an pine tree air freshener from them. Not getting 1 more penny out of me.

Pep Boys in Hemet, California - Unable to Diagnose and fix my truck

Went in with noise coming from ? They did our bearings, (at $550) then sent it home like it was fixed. Didn't even bother checking to see if the noise was still there, the next day I brought it back and had one of them jump in while I drove around the parking lot and he said something was rubbing. They put it back up on the rack and checked their work and said one of the bearings was dry, guess they don't pack them when they put them in! That didn't work so the did a brake inspection and said it was the brakes so they did the brakes, ($300) sound still there. Then they told us they checked the rear end and they found shavings and no oil. We need to repair the differential rear end, they don't do that. Wanted to send us to another shop, we went to Jimmy D's and they checked it, rear end is fine, no shavings, center bearing was out. Guess they couldn't see it right in front of them. Never figured out where the shavings came from. Will NEVER go back to pep boys again.

Pep Boys in Hyattsville, Maryland - Attempted theft by Service Manager, Unqualified staff

Staff at this Pep Boys was completely unable to replace a battery in a car. The associate eventually ended up spoiling other things in the vehicle and it couldn't start anymore. It took Pep Boys 50 days to figure out what was wrong with the vehicle. When they did repair the car, the service manager Derek Robinson asked that the charge be split into two..!!! He later on tried to tow the vehicle to an undisclosed location but was caught. He later said it was because the vehicle had been at Pep Boys for 2 months! It has been at Pep Boys for two months because you spoilt it!

Pep Boys - Irresponsible workmanship

On March 21,2013 your store #1529 in Panama City Beach FL installed Rear Brake pads and a right rear caliper. When I left the store I had a soft brake pedal and no Parking Brake.I returned the next day, after trying to bleed the brake lines they discovered that the cylinder in the new caliper had not been released. They also had removed to inspect the caliper on the left rear .On my return trip home to Canada on April 1,2013,a very disturbing noise was coming from my left rear wheel. As luck would have it I pulled off Interstate 65 at Verona KY ,located Korner Auto Service ,they removed the left rear wheel and found that both caliper pins were gone. Both your company and my family were very fortunate that a serious accident did not occur as a reult of irresposible workmanship.I assure you,a significant Law Suit would have followed. While I probably should not,I am prepared to pay for the cost of the parts installed, however I expect Pep Boys to reimburse me not only for the labour costs in installing the brake pads and the new caliper but also the $30.00 charge by Korner Auto Service to fix something that should never have happened.Needless to say the reputation of Pep Boys has severly diminished in my eyes.I look forward to your prompt response to this very serious complaint.
