Pep Boys - Car Part Review

Never received the rims I ordered from their web site, I wasted lots of calls to their customer service ,long phone wait time after 14 days of not getting anywhere, I had to dispute the purchase and my credit card refunded my money, cowboys claimed that the product were lost by FedEx, tracking number showed the product were still in Indiana FedEx hub!!!FedEx kept sending me back yo Peabody for refund since they are the one who shipped the packages.bad customer service. I WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THEM.

Pep Boys - Water Pump Repair Review from Bellevue, Washington

Drove my car in to have my water pump repair by these untrained people since the first on they installed two months prior (2K)and after them repairing it the second time they called to say my car was ready. I go get my car and as soon as I started it I clear as day heardcthis lound knocking sound. I refused to take mt car till they fixed whatever they did to cause this noise. They never fixed and they told me my motor was blown...I had to have my car towed home cause I did not have the 6K to fix it. My car has been sitting for about nine months. I recently had a mechanic look at it. My motor is not blown. It turns out that when they repaired my water pump its the tention chain. Please pass this on and boycott this place. I will contacting th better business and the San Jose mercury.

I wasted two years of my life there...

This company is an absolute joke and take it from someone who was a manager there for two years. Other than the fact that they charge exorbitant rates and say "at least it's better than going to dealer", not by much, they simply have no idea what they are doing. The management team is a case in point. It is absolutely mind boggling how these people got these positions many of them couldn't care less about their own positions, they run the stores their own ways and don't even follow company standards. One district manager had the nerve to tell me "I don't care how corporate wants it, do it my way." A regional manager and I had this delightful abbreviated conversation: Myself "I don't have the resources to do my job...." Regional Manager "Well what we need to focus on is shacking the customer's hand" Seriously?! I could have told him the building was on fire and he still would have told me to shack the customers hand. They wonder why their turnover is 42% percent, a figure from the mouth of the regional HR officer. They complain how much it "costs" to hire new people but they refuse to try and keep the people they have. I can't believe anyone would want to leave when all they do on conference calls is say "Well we tried, but I'll fire all of y'all if these numbers don't improve." That was a third middle manager. It took them eight months to take me off their security list with their cheap alarm company. I guess it wasn't a priority to have someone with a ability to have the police out and fine the store $10,000 for each call removed from the list. When I tried to have exit interview they said they were too busy, too busy "trying" to hire people to keep up with the flood of employees quitting. I will give them credit on one thing only. They motivated me to move on, I found a job where I can actually trust the people I work with and know we are not ripping people off at every turn. Avoid doing business with these company at ALL costs...

I dropped my truck off about 11am for a starter replacement. I was told I'd have it same day.

I get a call at 3 saying it'll be the next day by noon. No problem. I'll get it after work (4 pm). I called on break the next day at work to just make sure it's ready.

No answer. I call SIX times. Coworker takes me in. Car is NOT ready.

What? No one thought to call and tell me it's delayed! No one answers the phone? How does a 5 hour job turn into this?

And let's not get started on inflated price. I'm a rewards member, my card was scanned, and I still had to remind them their website said the tow service to their shop was to be discounted for reward members.

I think they thought I didn't visit the site. Horrible experience.

2002 Honda Civic Review

My stepson blew his head gasket on his 2002 Honda civic lx. The pep boy located in Tampa bay, Florida took his car in, fixed only a day later, which is reasonable time, and for the delay the manager discounted the bill accordingly. I'm very pleased with the level of professional and customer service I received at this store.

Pep Boys - Damaged Car Tint Review from Rendon, Texas

I took my car in for a electrical window problem and came back with a damaged tint. Addressed issue to mgr, waste of my time. He took pictures and told me they have to review video and will call me. This was August 25, 2014, no call!! I called 9/10 and left a message, no call back again. I spoke to mgr today, he basically told me I was to bring the car in to take pictures. He took pictures on 8/25 and I was never called to bring my car in again..ugh! He basically was trying to cover up his mistake. He said pictures were not clear....wth! He took pictures on his own cell and He could of called me to inform me. Called corporate and filed complaint. I was told I have to give the service mgr 48 hrs to respond. I did ask for a district mgr but was told I have to give the service mgr the opportunity to resolve issue. Ugh!!

Pep Boys - Tune Up Review from Columbus, Ohio

My wife and i took her 06 expedition in for a tune up which was going to cost $425. We agreed then it needed a coil we were ok with that. Then later the second day when there master mechanic was replacing the spark plugs he broke 3 of them off so now they wanted to charge us for removing the broken pieces. Then to make a long story short i did not pay full price for this. I paid for services rendered they only replaced 4 out of 8 plugs they only got paid half plus the coil replacement. There mechanics are *** Cause there master mechanic had never worked on a 5.4liter 3valve v8 motor before. DONT GO THERE.

This company is a joke and I used to work for them...

I used to work for this so called company, it should just be called a joke. Other than the fact they charge way too much for everything and than call it 'cheaper than the dealer' but not by much! They absolutely refuse to take care of their associates. As a manager at a store in Georgia I experienced these day in and day out and they wonder why their turn over rate is 45%!! They complain how expensive it is to hire new people but they do absolutely nothing to keep the ones they have. Even after not having worked there for 8 months I still get calls from the cheap alarm company we used when ever the their alarm goes off. The incompetent management team their doesn't seem the under stand their own security/financial risk with that. Speaking of management these guys are just plain pathetic. They run the stores as they see fit not even following their own corporate standards. One had the nerve to tell me "I don't care how corporate wants it done, do it my way!!" or this from a different useless regional manager "Well I hear you don't have the resources to do your job or that we tie your hands, but what we need to do is make sure we shake the customers hand..." Really?! I could have told him the building was one fire and he would still tell me to shake the customers hand. These people have no idea what they are doing, avoid them at ALL costs.

Online parts service is terrible

I recently purchased a rebuilt starter online. The part itself arrived in time and appears to be of reasonably good quality. My frustration began with the core return. When I submitted the core return info online as instructed to get the RMA and shipping label, the site tanked and didn't provide it. I attempted to contact customer service had to wait on hold 30+ min for a rep who apologized and told me the site was having problems and the label would be emailed as a PDF in 2 business days. It wasn't. So I call again after a few days and endure another 30 min of hold music before I can request the label, which I received the next day. I sent in the core return and a month later still don't see the core charge credited to my credit card although FedEx tracking shows the part was received. Another 30 min of hold music before I am told that, yes, the part was received but for some reason the core charge wasn't refunded. PB: "We'll have to check with finance but they are closed now. We will contact them tomorrow." Me: "How will I know when they reply?" PB: "We will contact you." Me: "When can I expect that?" PB: "By Friday. We will call." Me: "Please send an email, as well." PB: "Ok." Friday comes and goes. No phone call. No email. So I call again on Saturday. Only have to endure 5 min of horrible hold music this time. Am told by the rep he will check with his supervisor and call me back. The saga continues...

Review from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Upon checking out there was a glitch in my account in which I needed my wife to transfer additional funds from our saving to checking. While attempting to resolve this and holding the ire in my hand as I was describing it, some women who did nothing to identify herself grabbed the item out my hand and placed it behind the counter next to my sales clerk very rude. When I told her that I thought that her behavior was unprofessional and rude and continued to insist that she did nothing wrong no apology or any other attempt to rectify in an peaceful way instead I got attitude. From the manager. If it was not for the sake that the item was for sale. She would have lost the sale and as it is I would rather go to auto zone.. At least I won't feel like I'm a thief. Her name I believe is Arrianna. This store is on stenton ave. Philadelphia pa.

Manager at pomptain plains nj pepboys smelled like alcohol

i went in to get my tire plugged because i thought i had a nail in it when i went up and talked to the manager dave i immideately smelled alcohol coming off his breath and for some reason his hands were shaking so it made me realize. Is this guy drunk? He didnt seem like "drunk" but he was deffinately drinking alcohol, he should save it till he gets home. I think something should be done about this. I drink too i have no problem with it, but i do it when i get home from work not at work. Although the mechanic that worked on my car did the tire plug real fast good work.

Unprofessional, would never trust this company again.

I had my service "A" done at Pep boys on Friday, May23rd. On May 26th my car suddenly started showing that engine needs to be checked, it wasn't showing that before I brought it to Pep boys, the message showed up on my display 3 days after the service. Thus, I telephoned them to see if they could help me and explain why suddenly I needed my engine checked. A person on the phone told me to bring my car next morning, which I did, but apparently I had to wait 3-4 hours, so I made an appointment for another available day as I couldn't wait that long on that day. My Appointment was for Friday 30 at 10 am. I came exactly 10 am, left my car and went off. For 6 hours I wasn't receiving any phone calls, so I came back to the car shop at 4 pm and how surprised I was to find out that my car wasn't even looked at. How come you make an appointment and then 6 hours after your car stays at the same spot you left it, untouched? Moreover, I'm still puzzled why suddenly my car needs an engine check when it hadn't needed it before I brought it to the Pep boys? I'm very disappointed at their service, won't trust these people ever again and will make sure to let all my friends know what a poor experienced I had with this company, so nobody makes the same mistake that I made.

Very bad servicing......

Today morning I noticed a coolant hose break in my car and then I took appointment with Pep Boys at 2.00 PM, I reached on time, in spite they made me to wait for one hour. A lady called susan asked me whats the problem, i said there is a breakage in coolant hose, she said then you need to do Coolant leakage servicing, I said the problem is visible so no need to do the coolant leakage. Then I asked if there is any headlight bulbs, which are brighter than my existing one.....she simply said you have to replace your bulbs and charged for bulbs and replacing charges, after they replaced i checked the bulbs, to my wonder the bulbs which were before were good than they provided, then i said to replace with my old bulbs.....but they charged me for that.. I asked to check if the oil level is good or not.....but to my wonder....they changed the oil, even when its not required. I paid 109 for oil change and bulbs replacement. The problem I went for is not solved, she says they dont have the hose and they need to call the dealer for it for which she didnt even checked what the parts name or number is. They checked out me at 6.00 while they were closing, total 4 hours i was at the servicing center. I reached home and i opened the hood to check if any leakage is there.....but I noticed something wierd.....the head bulbs are hanging.....they didnt fix them and I have been charged for it. For my bad, I immediately called them and asked them to fix them, and I get a harsh answer saying they are closed and I have to come back tomorrow, and tomorrow morning I have to drive 30 miles from my home to aiport at morning 4.00 AM. I requested them badly to fix it and they asked me to come to the service center within 5 minutes, where I rushed and a store manager comes to me and says, we cannot do anything now....you have to come tomorrow morning to get this fixed...... Please suggest me what I have to do.......I am in helpless situation....

You also couldn't be *** to construct proper english. Sometimes I wonder where the *** do retards (like you) find a job that pays enough money that you imbeciles can afford to get ripped off a bazillion dollar paying someone else to screw on a *** light blub.

The amount of time and effort you spend *** with broken English, you could have learned to do the same thing yourself. The same could said about a lot of basic car maintance and even repairs.

Lucky, I know how to screw in lightbulb on my car. Oh wait that's because I took the time to learn to work on my car.

So well that I get paid to work on other peoples car. Thank god I don't do it professionally because I wouldn't be able to enforce my policy of no retards allowed. If you don't know how to change your own oil or install a light blub then chances are the car is neglected cause you were to cheap to pay someone else and too dumb to do it yourself. Then only when something finally breaks you go get it fixed.

The chances of me doing of doing a brake job and have idiots come back saying its my fault cause their clutch got worn is too high with the amounts of *** car owners these days.

That being said, *** that noise. Just be glad nobody sold you a blinker fluid job.
