I ordered new tires and was emailed notice that they were at the store. When I went I inspected the DOT stamp to see how old these new, never driven, tires were before I bought them. The tires were made in March of 2012 - 4 years ago!
I did not buy, of course, and complained to the automotive sales person. I also checked out the ages of some other tires they had on stock - found a number of them over 2 years old, waiting to be sold as new.
Google how to read the DOT stamp on a tire to find out how old a tire is. Then refuse to buy a tire if it is more than 6 months old.
