Had an appointment with Pep Boys on West Mercury in Hampton Va. The appointment was set for 2pm to get 4 new tires. The car was ready after 5pm. During that 3 hour window I was communicated with only 1 time and that was too add other possible fixes. That is great, yet after 2 hours of waiting already, when They mentioned only 1 hour and the technician not in a hurry, I did not lean to getting more work done. My suggestions is not to recommend me to talk to Store Manager after the long service, yet it should be service manager see the duration and communicate WHY the duration is happening. Proactive service please--and if customers are important then maybe complimentary water for the lengthy duration will help.

Dismayed and shocked

I brought my car in for tire rotation on 1/18/15 at the PepBoys location in East Brunswick, NJ. At the initial write up at the front desk by person named Guy I was told that it may take up to an hour and a half to two hours to complete the task and I will receive a call when my car is ready. The time was 11:20 am. When 3 hours passed and I was not called I decided to give PepBoys a call since I needed the car. The person in the service department put me on a brief hold and went to “check”. Then he proceeded to tell me that there are three cars in front of me and assured me that they will call when done. That sounded a bit strange since the car spent 3 hours in a shop already but I gave them a benefit of a doubt. Another hour and half went by with no call. So I called PepBoys again at about 3:45 pm. I spoke to a guy name Alexandro (Alex). This time he insisted that my car would be serviced next. At about 5 pm I have decided to pick my car up regardless since I needed it for other chores. I have asked Alex for the keys and he again went to “check” and assured me that my car is next. At this point I had zero trust left in the PepBoys stuff. I have also confronted the person who wrote up my ticket in the morning and told him that they had my car since 11:20 am and still did not provide either updates or service. His response was that they were busy and a lot of people had appointments. At 5:15 pm already outside I found my car in the same parking spot where I left it in the morning. No one touched it all day long. Needless to say that my day was shot with nothing to show for it. I am really dismayed at poor customer service (actually no service at all) that was provided by PepBoys nationwide chain at this location. It was a real eye opener considering that I am PepBoys Auto rewards club member for many years. It is also clear to me that this happened due to appalling management practices and non-existing customer rep training. What is more shocking is how easily and repeatedly I was lied to on the phone and face to face by everyone involved. Therefore, I am certain that this write-up may not change much but I would like to warn my fellow East Brunswick residents to avoid this place like a plague. If they are capable of lying about simple matter like that imagine what would happen if you would have a serious car problem…

DON'T EVER GO TO PEP BOYS

> I will NEVER go to PepBoys again. I went there to get a diagnostic test on my 2006 G35 Infiniti with160,000 miles because it overheated and I didn't know what was goin on.

Plus I needed an oil change as well so I decided to get that done. After waiting two hours they tell me I need a new Head Gasket. Smh which I was not expecting. I told them I will take my car else where to get it fixed sense I knew what the problem was.

Mind you the job isn't cheap including labor. So I tell them to put it on paper with everything I need done. They continued doin my oil change knowing it was pointless if it was goin to just be drained out when I get it fixed due to them having to take the engine apart to fix it. I end up paying for my oil change not knowing I didn't need it.

I end up buying all these parts I needed for my car including the Head Gasket like Pep Boys said I needed. Payed almost $2500-**** including labor and my car still wasn't right. It made a weird motor sound that I never heard before. At that point I didn't know what to do after spending all this money listening to Pep Boys.

Then I end up taken it to the Infiniti dealership and payed an extra $130 for another diagnostic test SMH. When they finished testing my car they tell me I need a new motor which cost anywhere from $2000-$2500 and that's not including labor. I told them I got a diagnostic test done with Pep Boys and they told me I needed a new head gasket and they didn't understand why they *** they would tell me that when that wasn't the case. The man typed it up and and gave me the form.

DONT EVER GO TO PEP BOYS. THEY TELL YOU ANYTHING JUST TO TAKE YOUR MONEY. GAVE ME A WRONG DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND MADE ME SPEND ALL THIS MONEY. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS PLACE EVER AGAIN AND I ADVISE EVERYONE ELSE NOT TO UNLESS YOU WANT TO GET PLAYED FOR YOUR MONEY.

I'm going to keep making reviews and let everyone know what I been through with this stupid company..

i used to work for pepboys auto and this company sucks so bad. please never get a job in this *** gate. they will make you work in different positions without proper training and the same 8/h oh neeee. the managers always hiding and pretending they doing something just to not deal with angry costumers and then blame you like if you are the reason costumers are angry and or complaining. horrible company I rather work at mc Donalds instead pepboys auto....................... i hope this review open people eyes about what pepboys is on reality. they pay less than other autoparts store and they blame you for their own accions

I reluctantly took my car to this repair shop knowing they were gone try to get over on me, but I wa ms stranded and *** I was frustrated.. I used their "towing service" for 24.99, but I'll get to that later. I had an appontment at noon, so The tow truck hit us there at 11:42am. My boyfriend and I decided to go diagonally across the street and eat. The whole time we where in there we kept saying how they never moved the car or anything. We then walked back across the street and as soon as I sat down the guys like " I'm glad ur sitting down"! He goes on about its gone be 1400.00 for a timing belt. I knew he was lying because the mobile mechanic said all that was fine. By the way I was charged 89.99 for a diagnosis and not charged for the 24.99 towing fee.. Sounds pretty fishy. I want a refund

I took my truck to Pep Boys to have a Brush Bar and Light installed at 11am on a Saturday. The Store had two lades working the desk one comes to find out was a manager but she walk away as I was giving my information to lady at the register. She said two people had not showed up and she was not sure on how to ring this up. So she called a service manager on the phone and told him what I had and did they do that. He said yes and gave her a code. I told her to make sure he knew about the lights and she told him he said that was the right code. I asked her to make sure the light was on there because the bar was easy to put on I could do it, but the lights were why I brought the truck in. She said she would and if they had any questions they would call. The truck would be ready by 3pm they would call when it was done.

I called back at 3:00pm after shopping with wife to find out that the truck was not ready. At 4pm my wife and I drove buy to see the truck had not been moved. So we went to other stores. I called at 5:30 and was told truck is ready. I came in and find brush bar on truck with no lights.

I walked to the desk and talked with one of the two guys at the deck. The lady manager from the morning was at the desk looking at paperwork. I asked the two guys , why the lights had not been installed and they both said the paper work did not say anything about light. One guy said saw he had seen them with the bar but did not ask. At that time there was two other people waiting both upset wanting to speak to a manager. The Lady was not answering them. I was in the store for 20 min with them waiting and her at the desk. So I did not ask to talk to a manager and left the store. At the time did not know the lady was the manager.

I called back Monday and asked for a manager. I waited about 5 min and a manager answered the phone. She told me she had herd my conversation with the guy Saturday (meaning she was the manager at the desk). She said she would pull the ticket and get back to me and she did. She left me a message that it was entered wrong and would talk to a service manager and get back with me to make sure things were mad right. She never called again. I have called 3 times, twice waiting 15 min after waiting for a manager to answer I had to hang up and then again this Saturday when I waited 20 min after asking for the lady and being told she was there.

If you want good Customer Service and Quality Work do not take your car to Pep Boys.

I even tried to talk to Costumer Service at their main web page it’s a Joke too!

They are the biggest rip off people in this country! Nothing good comes from taking your car to them especially to the one on mobile highway in Pensacola Florida! Dumb, dumber run that store! They lie about work that needs to be done!

Then charge you a whole lot for something they DID NOT fix!! Beware stay far away!!!

Based on my interaction Pep Boys is the worst auto part & service shop, due to the fact its the first time I have been scammed. I went in to get my driver side mirror fixed. I called, provided my VIN number and was promised the part will be ordered and scheduled the repair for the next day. The part was suppose to be in at 12 ish, but called at 10:30 ish to verify status of the delivery, but was told that the part is not coming at the 12:00 ish delivery because it was never ordered. Then they promised to order the part and provided them with the details about the part. Then they promised me that it will be in at 2:00, the part came but this time they ordered the wrong part. then they said they will install the one they ordered and call me when the new part comes in, I am still waiting for the call. If my wife didn't accidently throw away the receipt I would have some recourse now I am SOLed. So, I ended up paying for a automatic heated mirror but got a manual non heated mirror. Wow, that is called getting ripped off.

Mechanics work in shop unprofessional, made repair on car with dameged other parts on your car and not notify you, even if you mentioned for some suspicious feelings or noise after repair they ignore that and put you on danger to drive unsafe not properly repair car. When you returned to the store with broken car after 2weaks they are not taking any responsibility,they ignoring you. Moreover, they make without your autorization new repair and charge you for that even if that is store neglect. The store Menager make everything is possible to make you guilty no matter what . So, you on loss loss situation when no have deal with Pep Boys located at 1941 Forest av Staten Island NY. I'm even not mentioned of the time frame repair. You can spend all entire day or more to get your own car back from repair shop.

A few weeks back I took my 99 ford explorer to pep boys - 8635 liberty rd randallstown ,MD.And had a nightmare experience with service manager Kristofer Dautiuel.The results led me to contact the store manager and corporate district manager. Mr Dautiuel is dishonest , calculating ,ruthless and a deplorable example of a service manager. Don't take ur automobile here under his watch he can't be trusted.Please , Please heed this warning!!!Consider someplace that delivers customer satisfaction and great correspondense with a credible service manager.

I purchased a battery about a month ago it died.. I jumped it and Went to Pep Boys they checked battery they said it needed a charge.. They checked my trucks alternator starter and for a drain on battery they said nothing was wrong. The next day the battery was dead again. Manager says if the battery tests good there is nothing they can do for me. So you will never see me in a Pep Boys store again. They sell junk and hire people that don't know anything about cars.

Complete run around!

Do not use anything to do with Pepboys! We have been basically scammed, it seems. Not only by the shop itself but also their "Tow service". I called them because when I was driving to work one morning my car began squeaking very loudly and making odd noises and smells. Once I got to work I called and told them what was going on they said it sounded like something to do with my belt and for me to not drive it anywhere. I decided to call their tow service and go ahead and get it to their shop. First the tow truck drivers do not actually work for pepboys, they are outside drivers. They load my car up and say that I owe them money, I tell them no I don't and call the shop where my car is headed, the shop attendant verifies that and my car leaves. Once they get my car and tell me what's going on, after looking at everything, I agree to just get it all fixed for $400. I also decide I want them to go ahead and do an oil change. Once I go to pick up my car they say everything was fixed it's good to go but "oh we forgot to do the oil change", this place is already too far from home I only sent it here because it was close to my work, so I say forget it I will get it done somewhere else. A few weeks later it begins doing the same thing, making noises and smelling odd. It eventually breaks down on the highway, look under the hood, belt popped off. We call them again tell them what happened and they say okay call our tow truck number and we will take a look at it. The 1-800-pep-boys state on the phone they will cover the first 20 miles and we need to pay for the rest. So at this point it was my mother in my car, she didn't know not to pay the tow truck driver the money, well the driver tells her he can only take cash and she owes him X amount. She then follows him to the atm and gives him the cash. Once my car gets to them again, I have to call multiple times just to get an answer on what's going on. They tell me there is an issue with a CV joint which is leaking grease, mind you there was already grease all on the motor the first time they picked it up and I asked them to fix anything that is wrong with it. So they are now wanting to charge another almost $400. $109 for the part and $220 for labor! Then they go on to tell us we owe $80 for the towing. Luckily we have the receipt showing payment for the tow truck. They then go on to tell us the reason they didn't fix this issue in the first place was because they were not aware it needed to be fixed because they were only focused on fixing the belt. The mechanic says he remembers my car and knows for a fact that the first time it was brought in that the belt was completely busted off that was why they replaced it. So please someone tell me this if my belt was completely busted off how in the world would I have gotten all the way to work? My car runs off of one belt without it my car will not go, 2007 Ford Fusion. I am a 23 year old single mother of 2 young boys, who works full time and goes to college part-time, and I feel as if all this company has wanted from the start was to make money off a young woman that seems to know nothing about cars. I don't know much about cars but I do know a run around when I see one. I will be picking up my car tomorrow to take it elsewhere to be fixed, I refuse to give these men anymore of my money. BEWARE PRIVATE CITIZENS AND COMMERCIAL ACCOUNTS, if you thought the cops are crooked wait till you hear my experience with the upper management of Pep Boys

This all started with a simple order i placed with the commercial department. After explaining to the commercial specialist the importance of a timely delivery (45 min) , instead my delivery arrived 2 hours past the promised time. The flippant attitude toward the broken promise prompted me to ask for the district managers phone number. Her phone number was reluctantly provided to me ( I thought). i dial the number only to reach the commercial manager, Hernan. Like the commercial specialist, Hernan was also reluctant on providing me Claudia's phone number. Hernan, after much protest finally gave in and provided me Claudia's number. I immediately call the number provided to me and leave a urgent message with my return phone number (cell). Shortlist after, Kenny calls me, he introduces himself as the store manager of Pep Boys. He then goes on to question me as to why i want to speak to the district manager, Claudia. I explain to him that i simply need to make her aware of the poor performance that her commercial team is providing. Kenny, now frustrated that i'm not satisfied without speaking to Claudia states " why do you want to talk to Claudia, to flap your lips"...WOW! Now more than ever do i need to speak with Claudia. I'm shaking my head as to why 3 different Pep Boy employees are trying to cover up a simple, but costly mistake. ( I lost my long time customer)

Claudia finally calls me 4 days later on my day off. I'm happy to finally hear from someone that i think has our mutual interest in mind. to strengthen her team and our long time business relationship. To my surprise, the first thing out of her mouth was a strategic lie to cover up her lack of interest in not responding to my urgent call. Claudia states. " oh, i called your cell phone and left a message ". The funny thing about that is that i disabled my messaging capability 10 years earlier . when i confronted her about the lie, she insisted on continuing to lie and even offered to have me speak to her witness ( the human resource manager) she hands the phone over to him. Before he had a chance to be an accessory to her lie, I reminded him and said, before you say anything i want you to know i'm recording this conversation, i wouldn't stick my neck on the line for a lie. After a few mumbling words and a short stutter, Just before she hung up on me, Claudia yanks the phone from him and threatens to call my boss. 10 minutes later my store manager Jr. calls me and states that Claudia is irate and is calling my place of employment to try and speak with the owners. In an effort to further deflect attention away from her incompetent performance, Claudia desperately concocts another lie. Claudia states to my manager " i just spoke to your employee, he cursed me up and down, tell your owners that i need to speak with them about this matter"

While on the phone with Jr.( he called to find out if indeed i did as Claudia alleged) Claudia's immediate supervisor calls me. I take his call, He seems genuine and empathetic about my experience. I take this opportunity to discuss the details of what had happened up to the point he called. i mentioned all the aforementioned details of lack luster performance and what it cost me ( my customer ) . He was extremely apologetic and even agreed that what had happened was completely wrong. i invited him to listen to the recording of the conversation i had with Claudia. i needed him to know, 1 that his employee is an impostor and 2 that i had not cursed at all. He was more interested in fixing what was broken and because he seemed genuine in his delivery, i decided to follow. I was convinced that we were now on a road to a resolution. A few hours later while having dinner with my family i receive a call from Claudia, This time around she sounded like an angel. She spent about 3 minutes praising and patting herself on the back of her accomplishments. Knowing the business i had to agree with her. Once she was done basking in her own glory, i had to ask why she called my employer and tell them that i had cursed her out. She now back peddled and stated " oh, i thought i heard you say something" i asked her, okay Claudia, what exactly did you hear me say. She stated " i'm not sure, but i think you said " *** you " I then go on to say, okay Claudia, then why would you call my manager and state that i cursed you out, up and down. Claudia instantly falls into default ( habitual liar ) The angel disappears and in its place, the real Claudia. Are you ready for the next lie? i ask again, why did you state that i cursed you up and down. Claudia states " Jr. is telling lies, i never said that to him".....WOW!!!....the conspiracy begins.

Immediately after Claudia hung up on me, i called her supervisor. After my delightful call with him earlier, i felt it might yield some positive results. He was surprised about what i had said to him, but i wasn't convinced this time that he was on board. i invited him again to listen to both call recording i had. he stated " i don't need to listen to them, there not viable in court " Shake my head, what happened to the guy that had me convinced he was part of the solution. His outright reluctance to listen to my recorded calls made me suspicious. I couldn't help but ask him. Are you sleeping with this girl, he became extremely irate and hung up on me.....WOW!!! i knew then there was more to this than meets the eye. Without any resolution, i went on to call corporate, I made a total of 15 calls before the regional manager Sean C. called me.

Sean, like everyone else seemed uninterested in my experience. I explained to him that all i am is a customer, nothing more, nothing less. I have the right to call a district manager when the situation call for it. I explained to him in concisely all the aforementioned details. He stated " Claudia is our super star " in other words, he didn't believe a word i said. His position was the same as his subordinate, to protect there princess super star. ....When the head is rotton the whole body follows
