Pep Boys tried to take advantage of me, then accused me of

I took my car in for a new battery to Pep Boys. I knew that I would need new clamps for the wire as mine were corroded away. About 45 minutes later, I was told my car was done and that I could check out. As I was checking out, I heard about a car starter installed in a car the day before and that the car would not start and had to be towed from New Jersey back to the store in Philadelphia. This was the same mechanic who installed the new battery in my vehicle. I proceeded to my vehicle, which would not start after 4 attempts. I went back inside to let them know. The mechanic started the car right up. He told me the reason it would not start was because I needed a new starter. He told me that the one click I heard was because it was the starter that went and that it needed to be replaced. I told him that I would speak to my regular mechanic about it. He once again insisted I needed a new starter, I said no and left. After work, my car did not start at all. Once the car was jump started, I returned to the Pep Boys store. I talked to someone who took my car right in and looked at it. I was told that all of the screws and bolts were not completely tightened and that he tightened them and was going to run a few tests. He returned a short time later to say that the battery was bad and he would replace it then run the tests. Once everything was done, my car started right up with no issues. I let corporate know about this issue via their online system. I received a phone call telling me that I "misunderstood" the mechanic and that he said that I "might" need a new starter. I responded that I knew exactly what I was told, and the word "might" was never anywhere in what I was told. I was told then that the tests performed that evening were normally an extra cost and that is what the original mechanic was suggesting. If that is what he was suggesting, why was he so adamant about my needing a new starter? I was told that I simply misunderstood everything and should not be angry. The battery was bad and the car not starting before I left the first time should have been an indication. I am a young female and could tell that they were trying to take advantage of me. I, however, know what a starter going bad on my type of vehicle sounds like and the sound I was hearing, was not my starter. Accusing me of lying about what the mechanic said to me by saying I misunderstood is simply unacceptable in my opinion. I will not be returning and have already started spreading the word not to use Pep Boys.

Pep boys suck

Pep boys is the worst place to go. I wouldnt recommend this place to anybody! They just want you to pay all this money for nothing! I went in and they didn't do what I had asked! They ignored me when I started to tell them my car situation! They told me I would have to wait until the next day For them to check the problem out. The next day they told me all these things that needed to be replaced when they didn't need to be replaced. I don't understand how they can stay in business

Pep Boys in Atlanta, Georgia - Pepboys spoiled my honda odessy. the toched the crankshaft pully without my knowledge.

I VISTED THIS STORE FOR THE THIRD TIME FOR THE BREAKPAD OF MY HONDA ODYSSEY 1997. aLTHOUGH, THIS BRAK WAS FIXED ANYTIME I VISIT, THEY COULD NOT TELL ME WHY THE BRAEKPAD DOES NOT LAST FOR SIX MONTHS. JUST YESTERDAY 8/20/2010, MY BREAK WAS INSPECTED FOR THE LAST TIME FOR NOT WORKING PROPERLY.AFTER SOME TIME I WAS TOLD THAT, THEY HAVE AJUSTED THE "PINS" I WAS ALSO TOLD, THEY HAVE ADJUSTED MY CRANKSHAFT PULLY. AFTER 30MINS. OF USING THE CAR THE SO CALLED ADJUSTED CRANKSHAFT PULLY WHICH I DID NOT REQUEST FOR SERVICE CAME OUT CAUSING THE CAR TO STOP ALL OF A SUDDEN. WHEN I CALLED TO FIND OUT WHAT THEY DID TO MY CRANKSHAFT PULLY. THEY TOLD ME TO TOW THE CAR TO THEIR SHOP FOR SERVICE. SUPRISING, I WAS GIVEN A BILL OF 560 USD. WHEN I REQUESTED TO LOOK FOR WHY THIS HAPPENED, THEY TOLD ME IT WAS NOT THEIR FAULT.SINCE I DID NOT WANT TO GO FURTHER WITH THEM, I ASKED TO BE GIVEN THE PARTS SO THAT I COULD LOOK FOR A USED ONE TO BE FIXED. THE SAME EVENING I RETURNED TO TELL THEM TO FIX MY CAR WITH THEIR NEW SPARE PARTS BECAUSE I HAVE NO SECOND CAR TO GO LOOK FOR THE USED PARTS. ON 08/21/2010. I HAD A CALL THAT THEY WERE GOING TO FINISHED WORKING ON THE CAR IN THE NEXT 2HRS. I GOT TO THE SHOP FOR MY CAR AT 4.25PM.MADE PAYMENT OF OVER 400USD. WHEN I STARTED THE CAR, I NOTICED A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. WHEN I ENQUIRE WHY THEY HAVE GIVEN A CAR WITH CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, THEIR MANAGER TOLD ME TO PAY ANOTHER 340USD BEFORE THEY CAN FIX ANOTHER

Pep Boys in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - Wheel alignment did poor job an i paid for it if they could not fix it I should have been told that

They should never charge someone if they can't fix the problem. I understand that they look at the vehicle and diagnosed the issue. However I should have just been told that the car needed more work done so they won't do any work on it . my vehicle still shakes when I drive it then I was told it was fine that's a lie and I paid to have my mirror put on they just glued the piece to the mirror on there which fell off I had to pay someone else to fix itwill not use there services EVER AGAIN!!

Pep Boys in Las Vegas, Nevada - Unacceptable customer service

Took my car in on Tues. to have AC checked....not cooling. They had to check it out and would call me, which they did with a quote of $325-350 and would be ready Wed. I was going out of town so told them I would pick it up on Thurs., but be sure to call me if there were any problems. Never heard from them again. I called Thurs. to pick up my car and was told they had several problems getting the correct part and my car would not be ready until Fri....really! and not one call to let me know?? I had to rent a car for work and asked if they could pick me up from home on Fri. No problem they said....a greasy worker in an even more greasy pick up showed up and I had to climb in from the drivers side as the door didn't work! When I went to pay my bill, it was now $450! No call was made to me letting me know they had a delay and no call with the increase in price! This is totally unacceptable customer service. Pep Boys just lost a customer who used to bring both her cars to them for everything!!!!!
